Still pretty garam, Dharam

There are thousands of paji’s in the world, and then there is Dharam paji. There is no beating him to be up, close and emotional for a cause... or no cause.
In town, to promote the cause of the elderly by launching the “Archies Help Age India” cards at the Windsor, Le Meridien, he hardly looked all of his 50 years. “I have been very health-conscious,” he says when faced with the question of how he maintains himself. “The younger generation has become so health-conscious too. Both my boys visit the gym regularly.”
“I feel the elderly should maintain themselves to be independent till a long time. It is best to restrict your dependance on your children to the least. But, the problems caused by old age and illness cannot be ruled out,” he says.
Coming to the present day times and about his upcoming movie, Kis Kis Ki Kismat where he stars opposite the sensous Mallika Sherawat, he seems pretty kicked, “It is a very amusing storyline. Something on the lines of Chupke Chupke. Govind Menon had come to me with the offer of this film two years back, but I had asked him to work some more on the script. So, when he returned I agreed.”
About the film, “It is the story of a well-placed businessman whose family has the habit of squandering his money. Angered by his wife’s purchase of an expensive necklace he throws it out, only to initate a turn of events that leaves everyone confused,” he says.
About the kissing scene with Mallika Sherawat, “I don’t know where you picked that from. There is no such sequence in the film,” he says.
What about upcoming projects? “I am planning make a film about a man who tries to become an actor but fails. I would like to play the lead role.” As of now, his role as a parliamentarian takes the lead as he heads to his constituency of Bikaner in Rajasthan, where he contested and won elections a few months back.
“You don’t need books or politics to know how to serve. It is an emotion, a respect that comes from within,” he says.
